The above free questions are taken from the ITIL Service Design book of the ITIL Core. The questions come from only those sections of the core book that are covered by the ITIL Foundation Exam. Ron B Palmer is producing an ITIL Study Questions book for the Foundation course and for some of the ITIL intermediate courses.

These books will follow the syllabus for each ITIL course and present questions on every topic that is subject to be an ITIL exam question on the ITIL certification exam. Ron uses his extensive expertise in writing and reviewing ITIL exam questions for the ITIL certification exams to identify each topic that is subject to be asked in an ITIL certification exam. This material is intended to be used as a study aide to help students identify areas of study and their own strengths and weaknesses in mastery of the material.

If you can answer the questions in Ron's book "All the Answers: Foundations Exam" accurately you will have mastered all the knowledge required for the ITIL Foundation Exam. The following sample questions come directly from Ron's book. Each question number identifies the ITIL Core Book and chapter from which the question comes providing for quick and easy reference back to the ITIL materials.

* The question number identifies the source ITIL Core Book by its two digit identifier "SD" identifies the Service Design book. This is followed by the chapter or sub-chapter from which the question comes, e.g. SD241 identifies the Service Design book chapter 2.4.1. This is followed by the question number identified by the "-", e.g. SD241-5 identifies the Service Design book chapter 2.4.1 question 5.

** These questions are open-ended questions that allow the student to demonstrate knowledge of the material. They are a form of study aid and should not be confused with "Sample Exam Questions." The ITIL Foundations exam is a multiple choice exam. Each question has four possible answers. One answer is usually completely wrong. One is usually a distractor question designed to lead in the wrong direction. One answer is close to the correct answer. And one answer is the correct answer.

The following question is an ITIL Sample Exam Question written in the ITIL exam format:
